Widow and Children of Late Comic Actor ‘Mr Ibu’ Appeal for Financial Assistance

The family of the late veteran Nollywood actor, John Okafor widely known as Mr Ibu has publicly appealed to the public for financial support, citing an urgent struggle to meet basic needs including housing and education.

In a video interview released on Wednesday, the actor’s widow disclosed that the family has been facing significant financial hardship since the passing of the comic legend in March 2024. Among the challenges highlighted are mounting rent arrears and the inability to pay school fees, which she noted puts her children at risk of dropping out of their studies.

The widow further revealed that the family home has been without electricity for two months due to unpaid utility bills, forcing them to rely on well water and seek alternative locations just to charge their mobile devices.

During the interview, one of the late actor’s daughters expressed appreciation for her mother’s efforts to sustain the household under increasingly difficult circumstances. The content creator who facilitated the interview noted that the family is currently seeking urgent aid to settle their outstanding debts, restore power, and ensure the continuation of the children’s education.

John Okafor, a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry for decades, died at the age of 62. The appeal has since sparked widespread conversation regarding the welfare of families left behind by influential entertainers.
