11 Terrorists Surrender As Troops Arrest 4, 9 Drug Dealers In Yobe

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North-East), Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have foiled terrorists’ movement in a night ambush in Yobe State, arresting four suspected Boko Haram terrorists as 11 terrorists surrendered.

The Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force, Capt. Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Maiduguri.

Goni said troops of 27 Task Force Brigade, in conjunction with Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), laid an ambush east of Azare Village in Gujba Local Government Area at about 11 p.m. on Sept. 21, and made contact with suspected terrorists.

According to him, troops engaged the terrorists in a firefight with superior firepower, arresting four suspects while blood traces in the area indicated possible casualties among fleeing elements.

He listed items recovered to include four bicycles, large quantity of groceries, one sheep and expended 7.62mm special ammunition cases.

Goni added that troops also arrested nine suspected drug dealers during a routine patrol in Buni Yadi on Sept. 19, recovering illicit drugs, cannabis, two mobile phones and N85,900.

He said the suspects and exhibits have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation.

He said the cumulative successes recorded between Sept. 15 and 22, including the surrender of 11 terrorists and recovery of vehicle, ammunition and other logistics items, reflect sustained operational pressure on terrorist networks.

He reiterated the resolve of OPHK to sustain momentum and deny terrorists freedom of action across the North-East.
