Kidnappers Kill Abducted Brother of Edo Medical Doctor, Second Still Held

Gunmen have killed one of two brothers abducted from their home in Auchi, Edo State, earlier this month. The victim, Abu Momoh, was found dead on Monday morning.

The brothers were kidnapped on January 2 along City Pride Road in the Igbira Camp area. Their father, Tahir Momoh, confirmed the death and burial of his younger son, Abu. The elder brother, Ibrahim a medical doctor undergoing housemanship at the Edo State Teaching Hospital remains in captivity.

A community source suggested Abu may have been shot while attempting to escape. The police confirmed recovering his body during a bush-combing operation, with the family positively identifying him.

Residents of Igbira Camp are urging increased police patrols, calling the frequency of kidnappings in the area “alarming.” The police have stated that operations to rescue the remaining victim are ongoing.
