Adebayo Shares 18,000 Ramadan Relief Packages to Muslims
The 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, has extended Ramadan greetings to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and across the world, praying for Allah’s (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) mercy, forgiveness and guidance upon the nation.
In a message to mark the commencement of the holy month, Adebayo described Ramadan as ‘a divine appointment with our Creator — a sacred season of sawm (fasting), qiyam (night prayers), dhikr (remembrance) and deep reflection on the Qur’an’.
He stressed that Ramadan goes beyond abstinence from food and drink, describing it as a spiritual journey towards taqwa (God-consciousness), self-purification and renewed obedience to Allah.
According to him, the core values of Ramadan — patience (sabr), self-restraint, generosity (sadaqah), justice (’adl) and compassion (rahmah) — reflect the virtues required to restore righteousness and harmony in Nigeria.
‘Leadership is an amanah (sacred trust), justice is a divine obligation, and service to humanity is an act of ‘ibadah (worship). As we fast, let us renew our covenant with Allah and recommit ourselves to truth, equity and mercy in all our affairs’, he said.
Adebayo urged Nigerians to dedicate the holy month to fervent prayers for peace, security, prosperity and righteous leadership in the country.
In the spirit of Ramadan, he has commenced the distribution of 18,000 relief packages, including bags of rice, to support vulnerable families during the fasting period.
The outreach, coordinated by the Directorate of Special Operations under the leadership of Ambassador Lawan Uba, covers Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Yobe, Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi states.
The relief items are intended to ease the burden on fasting families and enable them to observe Ramadan with dignity and peace of mind.
Beyond material support, the initiative also sponsors Tafsir sessions throughout the month — organised gatherings for the explanation and deeper understanding of the Holy Qur’an — aimed at deepening spiritual reflection and promoting personal and national transformation.
Uba said the outreach underscores Adebayo’s belief that governance must be anchored on compassion, accountability and service to all citizens.
