FCC Seeks Partnership with International Investors to Boost Digital Infrastructure

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has initiated talks with an international investment delegation regarding a potential partnership aimed at upgrading its digital infrastructure and enhancing service delivery.

At the commission’s headquarters in Abuja, the Executive Chairman, Motunrayo Omidiran, received the team led by Mr Michael Gale, Founder and Group CEO of Al Liwan Group Limited, based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Discussions centred on identifying viable collaboration models to support the FCC’s digital transformation, boost institutional efficiency, and improve public service outcomes.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the FCC’s spokesperson, Ademola Lawrence, quoted Omidiran as emphasising the critical role of technology in effective governance.

She noted that enhancing the commission’s digital capacity would strengthen oversight and enforcement of the Federal Character principle, which governs equitable representation in public service.

“Strengthening our digital infrastructure will help the commission improve monitoring, ensure better compliance with the Federal Character principle, and enhance transparency in carrying out our constitutional responsibilities,” she said.

Mr Gale commended the commission’s reform agenda, noting that institutions embracing modern digital systems are better equipped to achieve tangible results. He expressed optimism about the potential for a long-term partnership following the productive discussions.

The proposed collaboration aligns with ongoing FCC efforts to modernise operations, improve accountability, and deploy technology in support of fair and balanced representation across Nigeria.

The commission is constitutionally mandated to ensure even representation of Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups in federal appointments and resource distribution. Since assuming office, Omidiran has advanced reforms focused on transparency, compliance, and digital innovation to improve service delivery.
