ADC Aspirant Challenges Oyebanji to Accountability Program, Questions Re-election Bid
By Seun Owolabi
Sir Stephen Oribamise, an aspirant to the House of Representatives on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform for Ekiti North Federal Constituency I, has issued a bold challenge to Governor Oyebanji’s administration in Ekiti State. Oribamise is urging the governor to collaborate with the National Orientation Agency to organize an accountability program, where he can showcase his achievements and justify his bid for a second term.
In a scathing critique, Oribamise condemned Oyebanji’s performance, citing a dearth of tangible development in Ekiti State despite the huge revenue accruing to the state. “Ekiti State has not had it so bad in terms of political dividends,” Oribamise lamented, pointing to poor infrastructure, insecurity, and alleged misgovernance.
The ADC aspirant questioned Oyebanji’s eligibility for re-election, asking, “Do you deserve a second chance when people are regretting your first term? The answer is a resounding no, and Ekiti people will not make that mistake.”
Oribamise alleged that Oyebanji’s administration has prioritized jamborees and events over substantive development projects, exacerbating insecurity and stagnation in the state. “I challenge Governor Oyebanji to showcase what he has done in the past three years that warrants his second term,” he said.
According to Oribamise, most rural roads credited to Oyebanji are actually World Bank-funded projects, which a more effective governor would have leveraged to achieve greater impact. He also criticized current representatives, except one senator from the Central Senatorial District, saying they have failed Ekiti people.
In conclusion, Oribamise urged Ekiti State residents to make an informed decision and vote out underperforming leaders. “Ekiti State should decide well and flush them out,” he said.
