Abia APC Assembly Aspirant Denies Allegations of Secret Support for Governor Otti, Labour Party
Ahead of the All Progressives Congress primaries for the Isuikwuato State Constituency, a female aspirant has rejected claims that she is secretly backing the Labour Party and the administration of Governor Alex Otti.
Lilian Agbazue, who is seeking to contest the State House of Assembly election under the APC banner, described the allegations as false, misleading, and politically motivated. In a recorded statement released on Wednesday, she insisted that her dealings with the Abia State Government are strictly business-related.
“I wish to issue a disclaimer and state unequivocally that I, Lilian Obenwa Agbazue, have no business being a Labour Party member and I am not working for Governor Alex Otti,” she said.
Agbazue explained that her only contact with the governor came in pursuit of rice supply contracts. She noted that she is widely known across Abia State as a rice supplier who maintains business relationships across political lines.
“It will be extremely foolish of me to contest an election under APC and at the same time work for a governor elected under the Labour Party,” she added.
The aspirant further suggested that gender bias might be fuelling the controversy surrounding her activities. Her denial comes amid growing political tension triggered by her recent interactions with the state government.
