Kwara Governor Boasts of 1,353 Projects in Seven Years, Says Infrastructure Legacy Visible

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has announced that his administration has executed 1,353 projects across key sectors over the past seven years, insisting that the impact of governance is now evident in both urban and rural communities across the state.

The governor made the disclosure in a Facebook post on Thursday following his participation in the 2026 Annual Ilorin Grand Durbar Celebration held in the state capital.

AbdulRazaq noted that the prevailing peace in Kwara had enabled residents and visitors to once again gather for the cultural festival associated with Eid-el-Kabir. He described the Ilorin Durbar as one of the most prominent cultural celebrations in Northern Nigeria, attracting tourists, corporate organisations, and indigenes from across the country.

“The Ilorin Emirate Durbar has firmly established itself as a household name across Northern Nigeria. It has become a much-anticipated celebration that draws brands, indigenes and visitors alike to Ileya in Ilorin,” he said.

The governor commended the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, and the entire Durbar Committee for their investments in making the event more colourful and organised.

Speaking on his administration’s record, AbdulRazaq said his government had invested heavily in roads, healthcare, education, and other public infrastructure, while also promoting cultural activities to strengthen tourism and preserve tradition.

“As an administration, we have prioritised the comprehensive upgrading of public infrastructure in a manner rarely seen in recent decades. Beyond roads and the ongoing reforms in education and health, we have deliberately elevated cultural activities like the Durbar as a key focus of government,” he stated.

According to the governor, the achievements recorded would stand the test of time and serve as a foundation for future administrations in the state.

“We expect our successors to build upon this foundation. Over the past seven years, we have worked tirelessly to turn around our public infrastructure, and history will bear testimony to the progress recorded,” he added.

AbdulRazaq maintained that residents could easily assess the transformation through visible projects spread across the state. “Today, we can proudly point to 1,353 projects delivered across various sectors. One only needs to look around the capital city and other towns to appreciate the difference between yesterday and today. This is a legacy that every citizen can see and feel,” he said.

The governor admitted that the state still faces challenges, particularly security concerns, but expressed confidence that collective efforts would overcome them. He urged continued support for government efforts to strengthen the security of lives and property and prayed for enduring peace and development in Kwara and the nation.
