Ekiti Targets $500m Egyptian Investment to Drive Industrial Growth
The Ekiti State Government has unveiled plans to attract up to $500 million in investment from Egypt as part of efforts to accelerate industrial development, create jobs and strengthen the state’s economy.
State officials said the investment drive followed a recent trade and industrial mission to Egypt, where representatives engaged with manufacturers, agribusiness operators, mining firms and other investors to explore partnership opportunities.
The engagements reportedly produced several expressions of interest spanning agriculture, agro-processing, commercial farming, seed production, textiles, manufacturing and solid minerals development.
According to the government, the initiative is aimed at expanding agricultural value chains, improving market access for farmers and processors, and increasing local value addition to agricultural products.
Officials noted that the next phase will focus on converting investment interests into concrete projects through site visits, commercial agreements and capital investments that can lead to the establishment of industries and job creation across the state.
The government expressed optimism that the proposed investments would boost productivity, stimulate economic activities and support long-term industrialisation efforts in Ekiti State.
