Africa CDC Partners with Informa Markets to Strengthen Continental Health Conference
The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has entered a partnership with event organizer Informa Markets to enhance the planning and sustainability of its flagship International Conference on Public Health in Africa and other major health events.
A memorandum of understanding was signed by Africa CDC Director-General Dr. Jean Kaseya and Informa Markets’ President for the Middle East, India, Türkiye and Africa, Peter Hall. The collaboration aims to merge the agency’s scientific leadership with Informa’s expertise in managing large-scale global events.
Under the agreement, Informa Markets will support expanding the scale, visibility, and international reach of CPHIA, while Africa CDC retains full scientific and strategic control over the conference.
Dr. Kaseya described CPHIA as a critical platform for African experts to shape the continent’s health security agenda. “This partnership reinforces Africa CDC’s commitment to strengthening continental ownership of public health priorities,” he stated.
The partnership aligns with the Africa CDC’s 2023–2027 Strategic Plan and the Africa Health Security and Sovereignty agenda, which focus on strengthening health systems and improving regional cooperation.
Peter Hall noted that Informa would leverage over 50 years of experience in global healthcare events to support CPHIA’s growth. “This partnership reflects a strong alignment of vision between Informa Markets and Africa CDC,” he said.
Launched in 2021, CPHIA has held four editions, bringing together heads of state, health ministers, researchers, and health sector leaders. The fifth edition, CPHIA 2026, is scheduled to take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and is expected to draw thousands of delegates from across Africa and beyond.
