APC Chairman Predicts Over One Million Votes for Tinubu in Plateau
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has projected that Plateau State will deliver more than one million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. Yilwatda attributed this confidence to the party’s expanding strength and the dissolution of major opposition structures in the state.
Speaking on Tuesday at an APC stakeholders’ meeting in Pankshin, the chairman declared that the party is now significantly more dominant than during the 2023 elections. He stated that former political adversaries, including Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, commissioners, and local government chairmen, have now aligned with the APC.
“All the stumbling blocks we had in 2023 are no longer there. Those who opposed us then have joined us now,” Yilwatda said. He specifically highlighted the Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam (PKK) Federal Constituency as a traditional APC stronghold, where Tinubu secured some of his highest votes previously.
Emphasizing the current political unity, Yilwatda described the APC in Plateau as “a movement without friction” and pledged to cease public criticism of Governor Mutfwang, noting he now has direct access to offer constructive input privately.
Addressing concerns from some longstanding members about new entrants, Yilwatda assured that the party structure would not be hijacked. “There are many rooms and many chairs. APC gives equal rights and privileges to everyone,” he stated, directing ward leaders to warmly welcome defectors from other parties.
The meeting was attended by key figures including Senator Diket Plang, Rep. Yusuf Gagdi, and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Na’anlong Daniel, all of whom pledged loyalty to the party’s leadership and expressed confidence in securing a historic victory in 2027.
