APC names Akpabio, Sani-led campaign council for Ekiti governorship election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to officially inaugurate its National Campaign Council for the upcoming Ekiti State governorship election on Wednesday, bringing together top party figures to coordinate mobilisation efforts ahead of the poll.

According to a statement from the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the inauguration will take place at noon at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, will chair the campaign council, while Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, will serve as co-chairman. Senate Leader, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, has been appointed as secretary.

The ruling party stated that the council includes serving and former governors, principal officers of the National Assembly, and other senior party leaders. Several specialised subcommittees have also been established to handle election planning, finance, grassroots engagement, logistics, media, security, women and youth mobilisation, and secretariat functions.

The APC described the inauguration as a major step toward intensifying grassroots mobilisation across Ekiti State as it seeks to retain control of the South-West state. Political observers are expected to monitor the council’s activities closely, given the prominence of its members and the strategic importance of Ekiti to the party.
