Atiku Declares Democracy Firmly Rooted After Voting in ADC Primaries

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar cast his vote on Monday in the African Democratic Congress presidential primary at Ajiya Ward, Jimeta, Yola, and declared that democracy has taken solid hold in Nigeria.

The ADC primary was conducted simultaneously across all 8,809 wards in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Atiku, a presidential aspirant under the party, described the strong voter turnout as a clear sign of members’ willingness to engage in the internal democratic process.

Speaking to supporters after voting, he said he had no doubt that democracy had come to stay. The former vice president arrived from Abuja to a cheering crowd of party faithful, and voting began shortly after his arrival.

Atiku was listed among three aspirants contesting the ticket, alongside former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatudeen. The returning officer for Ajiya Ward, Hon. Umar Jada, announced that the ward had unanimously endorsed Atiku’s candidacy. At the close of the process, a total of 3,220 votes were recorded in his favour.
