Bandits Kill Five, Abduct Several Residents in Fresh Attack on Sokoto Community
Bandits have launched a fresh attack on Girkau community in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State, killing five residents and abducting several others.
The attack occurred despite the security alert raised by the Sokoto State Police Command following intelligence reports of a planned attack by suspected bandits in Kebbe LGA.
In a post on Friday, Crisis Reporter in the North-West region, Bakastine, said via his X handle that the attackers spent several hours inside Girkau community during the invasion, leaving residents with nowhere safe to seek shelter.
Bakastine reported that five residents were killed and four others injured, while a large number of cattle were rustled.
He further reported that the bandits killed one person in Dukura and another in Jabga, both in Girkau Ward.
Two other people were injured during the attack, while a vigilante was also abducted and his locally made gun taken by the attackers.
Recall that suspected bandits demanded a N40 million levy from residents of Kebbe town and threatened to attack the community if the demand was not met.
The fresh attack has heightened concerns over the security situation in Kebbe LGA amid renewed bandit activities in the area.
