Davido and Hausa Singer Dauda Rarara Clash Over Global Insecurity Protest

A sharp public dispute has erupted between Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, and prominent Northern political musician Dauda Rarara over the global exposure of Nigeria’s domestic security challenges. The cross-cultural entertainment rift highlights a deeper national debate regarding patriotism, political bias, and international advocacy.

The friction traces back to Davido’s high-profile appearance at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert in Los Angeles on June 10. During his performance, the pop star wore a customized jacket emblazoned with the phrase “Bring Them Home” alongside the names of over 40 schoolchildren and teachers who were abducted on May 15 in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

In a widely shared video response, Rarara condemned the demonstration, labeling the global broadcast of the mass abduction as counterproductive and harmful to the nation’s international standing.

The Hausa singer argued that showcasing sensitive national security crises on a global stage compromises government efforts and rewards terrorist groups seeking international leverage. He further alleged that the move was heavily politicized, questioning if the awareness campaign was designed to score points against the current administration rather than genuinely aid the victims.

Rebuffing the criticism on social media, Davido engaged in a heated online exchange, dismissing Rarara’s arguments as lacking basic intelligence and depth. In a translated follow-up statement, the Afrobeats artist firmly maintained that citizens have a moral obligation not to stay silent in the face of ongoing insecurity.

Davido emphasized that prioritizing political alignments over human lives and regional safety actively hinders national progress, urging public figures to prioritize truth and community welfare over partisan loyalty.
