EFCC Arrests Kannywood Actress for Alleged Naira Abuse

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested popular Kannywood actress Samha Inuwa over allegations of mutilating the naira.

The arrest, carried out by the EFCC’s Kano Zonal Directorate on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, followed a viral social media video in which Inuwa was seen using naira notes to wipe her nose.

According to the anti-graft agency, it launched an investigation after the video surfaced, tracked down the actress, and took her into custody for questioning. She is currently being held at the EFCC’s detention facility in Kano as the inquiry continues.

The Commission stated that Inuwa will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.

This is not the actress’s first brush with authorities. In January 2025, the Kano State Censorship Board suspended Inuwa for one year and revoked her licence, citing “inappropriate dressing” and the use of “offensive language” in her content. The board had warned her repeatedly before imposing the suspension.
