EFCC Denies Me Chance to Meet Bail Conditions, Says Malami

Abubakar Malami, former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of denying him the opportunity to perfect his bail conditions. Malami described the conditions as stringent and hard to meet, claiming they are a ploy to prolong his detention.
According to his media aide, Muhammed Bello Doka, the EFCC’s claim that Malami denied himself bail is incorrect. Doka stated that Malami was ready to comply with the bail conditions from the onset but was denied the opportunity to do so.
The EFCC had granted Malami bail with conditions, including restrictions on granting media interviews and participating in political activities in Kebbi State. However, Malami’s office claims these conditions are a violation of his constitutional rights and are being used to suppress his political involvement.
Malami is being investigated for multiple alleged offenses, including money laundering, abuse of office, and terrorism financing. The EFCC has denied allegations of political motivation, stating that Malami’s detention is solely due to his failure to meet bail conditions.
The EFCC has urged Malami to cooperate fully with investigators and meet the bail conditions, rather than making false claims in the media.
