EFCC Nabs 45 Suspected “Yahoo Boys” in Ogun

Operatives of the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 arrested forty-five (45) alleged internet fraudsters in Ogun State.
The cybercriminals were arrested in Ijebu-Ode area following intelligence on their alleged fraudulent internet-related activities.
The fraudsters are Ogundiya Alex Olusegun, Ogunnusi Oluwaseunfunmi Akorede, Idor Ndubuisi Samuel, Bakare Idowu Ayomide, Oduntan Durojaiye Oluwaseun, Nurudeen Olalekan Quam, Bakare Taiwo Adewale, Aiyeloja Ridwan Oluwatobi, Bakare Kehinde Ademola, Musa Saheed Oladipupo, Idor Uchenna Joseph, Akerele Ayobami Emmanuel, Olanrewaju Olaitan Adisa Quadri, Adebanjo Oluwafemi Samuel, Bashir Abdulrahaman Adedayo, Alaran Boluwatife, Lasisi Damilola Opeyemi, Fisayo Akinkunade Folarin, Ayomikun Taiwo Odude, Oladejo Oluwatobiloba Joseph, Kuku Akeem Olabanji, Jaiyesimi Matthew Oluwatimilehin, Odude Kehinde Ayomipo, Arode Opeyemi Amos, Lawal Moruf Omobowale, Abulele Endurance Ogbemudia and Olajide Fredrick Ogundiya.
Others are: Owolabi Imoleayo Sodiq, Samod Tijani Owolabi, Abulele Joshua Osas, Agbolade Mayowa Oluwafemi, Olusoga Ridwan Oluwatobi, Fetuga Olajide Abiodun, Agbolade Bukola, Odude Ayomide Micheal, Adesanya Olamilekan, Badaru Damilare Micheal, Bashir Sodiq Omobolaji, Akinyemi Opeyemi Paul, Ali Abdullahi Oluwaseyi, Adefolarin Olamilekan Sunday, Moshood Habeeb Mayowa, Bamidele Azeez Oluwaseun, John Chukebuka Daniel and Asekoni Tolulope Adedoyin.
Items recovered include sixteen (16) exotic cars, several mobile phones, laptops and hi watches, among others.
They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

N4.8m Fraud: Benue Court Jails Cash Operations Manager

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Makurdi Zonal Command on Friday, May 26, 2023, secured the conviction and sentencing of one Amohu Sorochi Theresa before Justice Austine Ityonyiman of the State High Court, Makurdi, Benue State.
Theresa was arraigned on one-count charge of criminal misappropriation and dishonestly converting the sum of Four Million, Eight Hundred and Twenty Six Thousand, One Hundred and Fifty Naira ( N4,826,150.00) being part of daily contributions paid by customers through her.
Her victim wrote a petition to the Commission that Theresa was employed by their company as a recovering officer, and she was promoted to the post of cash operations manager in charge of daily collections, point of sale (POS) transaction, DSTV/GOTV decoders’ sales, subscription and installation and other cash transactions of the company.
In this capacity, the defendant collected daily contributions from customers and did not remit the money to her employers.
She was first arraigned on January 18, 2022 and pleaded not guilty to a one count charge and the case proceeded to full trial.
To prove the case against her, the prosecution called three (3) witnesses and tendered 21 exhibits which were admitted in evidence, while the defendant called two witnesses and tendered one exhibit.
Delivering judgment , Justice Ityonyiman held that the prosecution had proved the case against the defendant and sentenced her to one year imprisonment with an option of N100,000 fine.

May 29: Kano Governor-elect Declares Assets

Kano state Governor-elect, Malam Abba Yusuf, has declared his assets and liabilities in a completed form submitted on Friday to the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, Kano office.
This is contained in a statement issued on Friday in Kano by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor-elec, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa.
The Governor-elect, who was received by the CCB State Director, Hajia Hadiza Larai Ibrahim, said his earnest declaration of assets is a demonstration of transparency and accountability that will form the bedrock of the incoming administration in Kano State.
He said: ”Today, I have fulfilled the constitutional obligation of declaring my assets before assuming office on May 29.”
The Governor-elect, told his host that public service is a calling: “It is a service to humanity and I am always ready to serve, having won the confidence of the good people of Kano State.”
He declared that the coast is now clear for the journey of restoration of sustainable development in all sectors, where every kobo of the public fund spent will not only be justifiable but accountable in Kano State under his watch.
He assured that all the public officials, including political appointees that will serve in his administration, will be mandated to also declare their assets as required by the Law.

Gov. Buni Appoints 7 New Aides- 3 Days To Handover

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved the appointment of seven new Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), following the dissolution of the State Executive Council.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Mamman Mohammed, the Director General Press and Media Affairs to the Governor.
Those appointed were; Dr. Muhammad Sani, SSA on Education, Dr. Garba Iliya SSA on Humanitarian Affairs, Barrister Saleh Samanja SSA on Legal Matters.
Others include Gen. AbdulsalamDahiru (rtd) SSA on Security, Dr. Mohammed Lawan Gana SSA on Health, Aji Yerima Bularafa SSA on Political Affairs and Abdullahi Bego SSA on Wealth Creation respectively.
