FG Opens Applications for N10bn TETFund Research Grant, Sets October Deadline
The Federal Government has announced the commencement of applications for the 2026 Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) National Research Fund grant, with N10 billion allocated to support research projects in public tertiary institutions across the country.
According to the fund, the grant is open to lecturers in public universities, polytechnics and colleges of education, with emphasis on multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research initiatives.
The application process will begin with the submission of concept notes by Principal Investigators. Only applicants whose concept notes meet the required standards will be invited to submit full research proposals for further consideration.
Interested researchers are required to complete their applications through the official National Research Fund online portal. Successful applicants will undergo additional evaluation stages, including proposal defence before the relevant committee, before final approval and release of funds.
The research grant covers 30 priority areas spanning humanities and social sciences, science and technology, engineering, innovation, agriculture, health, energy, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, entrepreneurship and national development.
TETFund stated that the submission portal will open on August 31, 2026, while applications will close on October 15, 2026. The agency noted that late submissions will not be accepted.
