Five Commissioners resign from Fubara’s cabinet in one day

Three more Rivers State commissioners loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, have dumped the State Executive Council.

The Commissioner for Social Welfare, Inime Aguma,  Jacobson Nbina, Commissioner for Transport and  Commissioner for Environment, Austen Ben-Chioma all tendered their resignation letters to the state government.

Their resignations were contained in separate letters addressed to the governor, through the Office of the Secretary to the Rivers State Government.

Earlier the Commissioner for Housing, Gift Worlu tendered his resignation just as the state Commissioner for Education, Professor Prince Chinedu Mmom also tendered his resignation from Fubara’s cabinet.

In a letter addressed to Governor Fubara, through the Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, Worlu cited a “toxic” work environment, as well as the alleged attempt to merge the executive and legislative arms of government as his reason for resignation.

His letter states, “I write to formally resign my appointment as the Honourable Commissioner of Housing.

“One of the most difficult decision in my life yet, it is precipitated by the toxic atmosphere that has characterised our working relationship, especially the smouldering arbitrariness of decisions and actions, induding the attempt to fuse the executive and legislative arms of government in Rivers State.

“I thank you for the opportunity to serve in your government and wish you the best as you continue to steer the ship of state.

”Kindly accept assurances of my esteemed regards.”.
