Five Dead, 11 Injured In Ondo Road Accident

At least five persons have been reported dead in a motor accident in Ikare Akoko, Akoko north-west LGA of Ondo state.

11 persons also sustained various degrees of injuries in the accident which occurred on Sunday.

The accident was reported to have happened after a commercial bus conveying passengers had a tyre burst at a junction leading to Ajowa Akoko and Akunu Akoko.

Those who sustained injuries were taken to the state’s specialist hospital, while the dead were deposited at the morgue.

Oluropo Alabi, unit commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who confirmed the incident, lamented that fatal accidents keep recurring despite the constant warnings on the dangers of reckless driving and the use of expired tyres.

Andrew Momodu, the paramount ruler of Ikaram- Akoko, complained that the community had approached the federal ministry of works and federal road maintenance agency (FERMA) to make speed breakers around the junction which always record motor accidents.
