Former Ekiti Governor Segun Oni Joins APC
Former Ekiti State Governor, Olusegun Oni, has formally registered as a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oni, who governed the state from 2007 to 2010, completed the party’s e-registration exercise at his Ifaki Ekiti hometown on Sunday. He was the Social Democratic Party (SDP) gubernatorial candidate in the 2022 election.
The State Coordinator of the APC e-registration, Adesola Adedayo, confirmed the development. He described Oni as a resourceful leader whose entry would strengthen the party, particularly ahead of future elections in 2026 and 2027.
Adedayo, who also serves as Commissioner for Youth Development, stated that Oni’s grassroots popularity would be a significant asset to the APC. He urged party members to continue mobilising support to strengthen its base across the state.
The registration comes shortly after the state’s Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, revalidated his own party membership, as the APC continues its membership drive in Ekiti.
