Funke Akindele’s ‘Behind The Scenes’ Becomes Nollywood’s Top-Grossing Film of 2025

Nollywood film “Behind The Scenes” has emerged as the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of 2025, grossing ₦512 million at the box office. The film, led by Funke Akindele, had its advanced screening on December 10-11 and officially opened in cinemas nationwide on December 12.

FilmOne Entertainment, the distributor, described the achievement as “historic” and thanked audiences in Nigeria and Ghana for their support. “Behind The Scenes” is also the fastest Nollywood film to cross the ₦500 million mark and was the number one film of the weekend.

The movie explores the theme of black tax, featuring Scarlet Gomez, Funke Akindele, Iyabo Ojo, Destiny Etiko, and others. FilmOne noted the box office run reflects strong audience belief in the story and its makers, adding that the film remains in cinemas.

Earlier, “Behind The Scenes” crossed ₦200 million in its opening weekend, becoming the first Nollywood movie in 2025 to hit the mark and setting multiple box office records.
