Governor Makinde Prioritizes Rehabilitation for Rescued Oyo Pupils and Teachers

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has announced that his administration’s immediate focus is the comprehensive rehabilitation and family reunification of the school pupils and teachers recently rescued from an electronic abduction ordeal. The victims were freed after spending 56 days in the custody of their captors in the Oriire Local Government Area of the state.

Expressing deep relief over their safe return, Governor Makinde affirmed that the state government will provide all necessary medical and psychological care to help the survivors overcome the physical and emotional trauma suffered during their nearly two-month captivity.

The governor also paid tribute to the joint security forces involved in the operation, commending their bravery and operational excellence while offering condolences to the families of personnel who lost their lives during the rescue mission.

The presidency has since confirmed that the coordinated tactical operation was successfully executed without any concessions or ransom payments to the criminal syndicate. According to presidential communications, the abductors had attempted to negotiate the release of a detained terrorist kingpin, a demand the government firmly rejected.

During the high-stakes operation, security forces neutralized several bandits and arrested eight suspects, who are currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). Following their extraction, the rescued teachers and students expressed profound appreciation to the presidency and the armed forces for their unwavering commitment to securing their freedom.
