Governor Oborevwori Attributes Delta’s Economic Growth to Sustained Peace and Security
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has stated that the state’s rising status as a preferred destination for investors is the direct result of his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability.
The Governor made these remarks on Wednesday during the inauguration of a new Zenith Bank Plc branch in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area. He emphasized that the state government has implemented deliberate policies to strengthen its security architecture, providing a stable foundation for both local communities and corporate entities to operate effectively.
Addressing attendees at the ceremony, Oborevwori described the opening of the bank—the 19th branch of the financial institution in the state—as a strong endorsement of Delta’s economic potential. “This is more than just a banking facility coming on stream; it is a strong vote of confidence in the future of Delta State,” he said.
The Governor noted that the Osubi branch fulfills a long-standing promise to the local community, as it stands as the first and only bank currently operating within the Okpe Local Government Area. He expressed optimism that the facility would significantly boost local trade, support small and medium-scale enterprises, and promote financial inclusion.
“Today, Delta State is enjoying an atmosphere of peace and security that allows our businesses to thrive,” Oborevwori added. “We remain committed to improving infrastructure and providing the right environment for businesses to succeed.”
In her remarks, the Group Managing Director and CEO of Zenith Bank Plc, Adaora Umeoji, commended the Governor for his proactive support of private sector investment. She specifically lauded his decision to donate the land for the new branch free of charge, highlighting it as evidence of his dedication to the socio-economic transformation of the state.
“Your presence here today speaks volumes about your commitment to supporting private sector investments,” Umeoji said, adding that the infrastructure and socio-economic progress observed across the state since Oborevwori took office have been significant.
The commissioning marks another step in the state’s broader agenda to drive investment, create employment, and improve the general standard of living for its residents.
