Governor Oyebanji Re-elected in Ekiti, Extends Hand of Cooperation to Opponents

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has formally expressed his gratitude to the people of the state following his landslide victory in the June 20 gubernatorial election. The governor secured a decisive win, carrying all 16 local government areas and 177 wards in a contest that officials have praised for its peaceful conduct.

In a statement released on Monday, Governor Oyebanji described the mandate as a humbling experience and pledged to honor the trust placed in him by the electorate for his second term. He noted that the peaceful nature of the election serves as a positive benchmark for future electoral processes across the country.

The governor extended a formal invitation for collaboration to his political rivals, including Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He urged them to set aside partisan differences and join his administration in efforts to advance the development and prosperity of Ekiti State.

Governor Oyebanji also commended various stakeholders, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, security agencies, and former governors of the state, for their roles in maintaining stability throughout the campaign and election period. He specifically acknowledged the professionalism displayed by security personnel and the improved electoral logistics managed by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Looking ahead to his second tenure, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing governance and delivering further dividends of democracy to the state’s residents. He attributed the success of his first term to divine guidance and the sustained support of the people, promising to work with increased efficiency and dedication in the coming years.
