Gunmen Attack National Park Service Office in Oyo State
Suspected bandits attacked the office of the National Park Service in Oloka, located in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred at approximately 9 p.m., according to an investigation by The PUNCH. Unconfirmed reports from the area indicate that about five personnel of the National Park Service may have been killed during the assault.
The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the attack when contacted on Wednesday.
“Yes, there was an attack by yet-to-be-identified men against the men of the National Park,” Ayanlade stated. “The Commissioner of Police and other service chiefs are currently on their way to the location.”
He added that the Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, has deployed tactical teams, officers from the Mobile Police Force, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit to the area to secure it and prevent any further breakdown of law and order.
The motive for the attack and the identity of the gunmen remain unclear as investigations continue.
