HAJJ 2026: Lagos Presents Certificates to 1,600 Pilgrims as 1,032 return Home

The Lagos State Government has presented certificates of participation to all 1,600 pilgrims who performed the 2026 Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The certificates were presented in Makkah by Local Government Coordinators on behalf of the Amir-ul-Hajj and Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode, on Wednesday, in recognition of the pilgrims’ responsiveness and exemplary conduct throughout the pilgrimage.

Hon. Layode praised the pilgrims for making the state proud, calling them “shining lights and good examples for others to emulate”. He urged them to apply the lessons of endurance, discipline, and resilience learned during the Hajj to their future endeavours and relationships.

Meanwhile, 1,032 pilgrims have been airlifted home from Saudi Arabia. The second and third batches arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hon. Layode said the homebound journey is proceeding smoothly in line with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) schedule. He confirmed that the remaining pilgrims will be airlifted on the fourth and fifth flights scheduled for Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13.
