Kano Governor Warns Pilgrims Against Vices in Holy Land

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has cautioned intending pilgrims to avoid any form of vices in the Holy Land and to serve as good ambassadors of the state and the country.

The governor gave the charge while addressing the first batch of 560 intending pilgrims set to be airlifted to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj.

A statement issued on Saturday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, quoted Yusuf as urging the pilgrims to fear God and display exemplary behaviour.

The governor expressed confidence that the pilgrims would not engage in any shameful act capable of denting the image of Kano State.

He said the state government has provided a medical team and a hospital to attend to any pilgrim who falls ill in the Holy Land. He added that everything possible has been done for the pilgrims’ comfort both at home and abroad.

The governor also revealed that he has appointed the Emir of Gaya, Dr Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, as the state’s Amirul Hajj for this year, with the Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Muhammad Muhammad Maharaz, as his deputy.

Earlier, the Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abubakar Matawalle, commended the state government for its support and informed the governor that all 560 pilgrims on the first flight had been supplied with soap, toothpaste, and toothbrushes.

The governor was accompanied at the farewell event by his deputy, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, the Amirul Hajj, and other top government officials.
