Kids & Teens Resource Centre Trains 24 Adolescents on Reproductive Health in Ekiti
The Kids & Teens Resource Centre (K&TRC) on Saturday, April 11, 2026, commenced a fresh batch of its “Knowing Series” Adolescent Reproductive Health programme, reaffirming its over two-decade commitment to equipping teenagers with essential life skills.

The initiative, designed to address critical issues such as teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), brought together 24 adolescents aged 13 to 17 in an engaging and interactive learning environment.
The session featured a blend of group discussions, games, and edutainment activities aimed at strengthening participants’ knowledge and confidence in making informed life choices. Participants actively engaged in conversations on teenage pregnancy and demonstrated enthusiasm throughout the programme.
A major highlight of the event was the presence of the Chief Executive Director of K&TRC, Martin Mary Falana, alongside the State Focal Person for Adolescent Reproductive Health, Dr. Tolulope Ademuwobi, who represented the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Ekiti State, Dr. Filani Oyebanji.
Speaking in an interview with Pinpoint News, Dr. Ademuwobi commended the initiative and the level of participation displayed by the teenagers.
“The responses from these young people show that they are eager to learn and make better decisions. Programmes like this are very important in shaping their future and reducing the risks associated with poor reproductive health choices,” she said.
She further encouraged the participants to see the programme as a foundation for personal growth, noting that they have the potential to become ambassadors of positive behavioural change in their communities.
Also speaking, the CEO of K&TRC, Martin Mary Falana, emphasized the organisation’s dedication to youth development.
“For over 20 years, we have remained committed to building informed and confident young people. This programme is not just about knowledge, but about empowering teenagers to make the right choices and influence others positively,” she stated.
In a moment that added excitement to the session, outstanding participants were rewarded with cash prizes by the CEO for correctly answering questions and demonstrating strong listening skills during interactive activities.
Some of the participants who spoke with Pinpoint News expressed appreciation for the opportunity. One of them described the programme as “educative and fun,” adding that it helped clarify misconceptions about reproductive health and decision-making.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks by the Programme Manager, Mkpuma Peter, who appreciated the contributions of the guest speaker, the CEO, staff members, and the participating adolescents. He reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to sustaining the initiative.
The next edition of the “Knowing Series” is scheduled to hold on the first Saturday of May.
