Kwara Governor Mobilizes Aid, Security After Fatal Terror Attack

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has directed the State Emergency Management Agency to provide immediate support for victims of Tuesday night’s terrorist attack in Woro community, Kaiama Local Government Area. The governor gave the order during an early Thursday visit to the affected area.

Governor AbdulRazaq, who arrived in Kaiama late Wednesday, was accompanied by the state House of Assembly Speaker, Salihu Yakubu-Danladi, security commanders, and senior officials. He met with community leaders and the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Omar, to commiserate over the attack, which he said claimed at least 75 lives.

“We are deeply saddened. These victims were massacred because they refused to submit to a strange Islamic doctrine. This was a pure massacre,” the governor stated after receiving briefings.

He confirmed the deployment of soldiers to the area, following approval from President Bola Tinubu under Operation Savannah Shield. Governor AbdulRazaq assured residents that security presence would be intensified within the next month to restore safety.

The Emir of Kaiama explained that the assailants were followers of a preacher named Mahmuda, who attacked residents for rejecting their ideology. He expressed gratitude for the governor’s swift response and solidarity.

The state emergency services have begun an assessment to determine support for affected families, while security operations are being scaled up to address the threat extending toward the Kainji Lake National Park in neighboring Niger State.
