Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu Signs ₦4.4 Trillion 2026 Budget into Law
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill of ₦4.444 trillion into law during a ceremony at the Lagos House in Alausa, Ikeja.
The budget, titled “Budget of Shared Prosperity,” was passed by the Lagos State House of Assembly last month. The legislation authorizes the state to spend ₦4,444,509,776,438 for the upcoming fiscal year.
The signing event was attended by Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, members of the State Executive Council, the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, lawmakers from the state House of Assembly, and other stakeholders.
Governor Sanwo-Olu had presented the budget proposal to the Assembly in November 2025, outlining its aim to foster inclusive growth and development. He stated that the budget is centered on a human-focused approach, modern infrastructure, economic growth, and effective governance, in line with the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ development agenda.
“Our mission remains clear: to eradicate poverty and build a Lagos that works for all,” Sanwo-Olu remarked, emphasizing the administration’s goal to make shared prosperity a tangible reality for residents.
