Lagos PDP Faction Reaches Out to Bode George in Bid to Rebuild Ahead of 2027
The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has extended an olive branch to party chieftain Chief Bode George, urging him to return to the party’s mainstream leadership to strengthen its position ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appeal was made by the faction’s State Organising Secretary, Hakeem Olalemi, during an interview in Lagos on Sunday.
George, a former PDP Deputy National Chairman, has been a vocal critic of Wike and is currently aligned with a rival faction led by the Dr. Kabiru Turaki National Working Committee, which enjoys the backing of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
Despite these deep internal cracks, Olalemi described George as a foundational member and a respected father figure whose wealth of experience remains invaluable to the party’s future. He expressed strong optimism that the elder statesman would return to the fold to work toward collective progress.
According to Olalemi, reconciliation and inclusivity have always been part of the party’s core political tradition. He urged leaders and stakeholders across rival camps to bury the hatchet and rally behind the Alhaji Abdurahman Mohammed-led National Working Committee.
Dismissing the threat of newly emerging opposition platforms in Lagos State, the PDP chieftain labeled them as minor “mushroom parties” lacking the pedigree, political machinery, and experience necessary to challenge the PDP.
Olalemi further revealed that internal restructuring and grassroots mobilization are already underway at the ward, local government, and zonal levels across Lagos State.
He voiced absolute confidence that the PDP is actively preparing its machinery to fiercely contest the governorship against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027, adding that many politicians who defected to alternative parties would eventually return home.
