Lawmaker Zubairu Visits Maru Community Amidst Bandits’ Attack

The lawmaker representing the Bungudu and Maru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Abdulmalik Zubairu, has paid a condolence visit to Maru community in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State following a recent deadly attack by bandits. The attack led to the killing and kidnapping of several innocent people, leaving the community in grief.

In a statement issued in Gusau on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Aminu Lawal, Zubairu expressed his deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as “very unfortunate”.

“I was heavy-hearted by the sad development in Maru town. Only God knows the extent of my concern for the plight of the people I am representing, particularly the devastating insecurity that has continued to subject the people to monumental hardships,” Lawal quoted the lawmaker as saying.

Zubairu reassured his commitment to doing everything possible to ensure the security of lives and properties of his constituents. He prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased victims and the safe return of the abducted ones.

The lawmaker also urged the constituents to support security agencies in fighting banditry, saying “I will continue to do everything humanly possible to give my constituents the best in terms of the security of their lives and properties.”

During the visit, special prayers were observed for the restoration of peace in the area. Meanwhile, Zubairu also attended the funeral prayer of the late District Head of Karakkai, Alhaji Muhammad Bello-Yusuf, who died after a brief illness. He described the deceased as a leader who contributed significantly to national development.

Zubairu condoled with the families and community members, saying the demise of the late traditional ruler was a loss not only to his household or Karakkai district but also to the entire traditional institutions in Bungudu LGA and Zamfara.

“In spite of the security tension that continues to pose threats in our communities, the late district head remained with his subjects and continued to support government/community policies and programmes implementations. His dedication to duty was one of the good qualities of the late district head that history will never forget,” he said.

The lawmaker also condoled with the Emir of Bungudu, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, and the people of Bungudu Emirate, praying for Allah’s forgiveness for the deceased and admission into Jannah.
