NEMA Holds In-House Emergency Evacuation Drill to Strengthen Staff Preparedness
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has conducted an emergency evacuation drill for staff at its Headquarters in Abuja as part of efforts to strengthen workplace safety, improve emergency preparedness and enhance staff capacity to respond effectively during emergencies.
The exercise, coordinated by the Agency’s Search and Rescue Department, brought together directors, heads of units and members of staff, service providers and visitors who assembled at the designated muster point after participating in a simulated evacuation.
As part of the exercise, officers of the Federal Fire Service delivered practical sessions on fire safety, emergency evacuation procedures and basic first aid, equipping participants with essential life-saving skills and appropriate response measures during fire outbreaks and other emergencies.
Representing the Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, the Special Assistant to the Director General Hajiya Rakiya Bello Umar commended members of staff for their dedication and commitment to duty, particularly during emergency operations across the country. She encouraged them to sustain their professionalism while prioritising personal safety and adherence to established emergency procedures.
