Northern SSGs Convene in Kaduna to Chart Strategic Roadmap for Governors

Secretaries to the State Governments (SSGs) from the 19 northern states have gathered in Kaduna to harmonize a comprehensive agenda ahead of the upcoming Northern States Governors’ Forum meeting.

The consultative session, held at the General Hassan Usman Katsina Conference Hall, served as a preparatory platform to streamline key policy priorities and regional concerns for the governors’ consideration.

Professor Ibrahim Njodi, Chairman of the Forum of SSGs and Secretary to the Government of Gombe State, presided over the meeting. Addressing his colleagues, Professor Njodi emphasized the necessity of a unified approach to governance, particularly in light of the complex security and economic hurdles currently impacting the region.

“This meeting is essential to the development of northern Nigeria,” Professor Njodi stated. He praised the dedication of his counterparts in maintaining administrative stability across their respective states despite the ongoing regional challenges. He further urged the participants to contribute actionable, practical solutions that would provide a robust framework for the governors to drive sustainable development.

The meeting also served as an opportunity to welcome new members to the fold and recognize recent administrative appointments within the northern civil service structures.

The Northern States Governors’ Forum, led by Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, remains the primary vehicle for regional collaboration on issues such as security, education, and economic integration.

Wednesday’s scheduled plenary session is expected to focus on reviewing previous policy resolutions and implementing further coordinated measures to combat insurgency, banditry, and poverty, while fostering economic growth across the north.
