Ogun Lone Crash Kills Five, Injures Ten
A lone crash along the Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway in Ogun State on Thursday left five people dead and ten others injured.
The accident happened around 11:12 am near Iyana Egbado. A white Mazda E2000 bus with registration number KRD809XC was involved in the incident.
The bus was carrying 20 passengers, including six adult males, eleven adult females, one male child, and two female children. Among them, five persons lost their lives – one adult male, two adult females, one male child, and one female child. Ten other passengers sustained injuries of varying degrees, while five people escaped unhurt.
Preliminary investigations indicated that speeding and overloading were the primary causes of the crash.
The injured victims were taken to the General Hospital in Ifo and Oreofe Specialist Hospital in Itori for medical attention. The bodies of the deceased were deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital in Ifo.
Authorities have urged motorists to avoid speeding, overloading, and other traffic violations, particularly during the festive season, and to strictly adhere to road safety regulations.
