Ogun Unveils CCTV Control Room to Boost Amotekun Security Operations
The Ogun State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening security agencies through technology and strategic support, aiming to enhance crime prevention and ensure round-the-clock safety for residents.
Speaking on Wednesday at the unveiling of the CCTV control room at the Ogun State Security Network (Amotekun Corps) headquarters in Abeokuta, Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi, said the government was impressed with the corps’ embrace of innovation and professionalism.
Talabi commended the Amotekun Corps Commander, Brig Gen Alade Adedigba (retd.), for initiating the project, describing it as a forward-thinking move that would significantly improve security operations across the state.
“When you look at Amotekun as a pioneer force set up to support our security architecture, an initiative like this gives the government confidence,” Talabi said. “With about 2,000 operatives, administering such a large force requires technology. This will help us cover our vast land more effectively.”
He noted that while the CCTV system is currently operational in only three locations, the state government is committed to expanding the pilot project to ensure full coverage across Ogun.
Talabi also stressed the importance of collaboration among all security agencies, describing security as a complex task that demands synergy. “We cannot afford to work in isolation. Regular meetings and joint efforts are key to building capacity and ensuring efficiency,” he added.
In his remarks, Brig Gen Adedigba explained that integrating technology into security operations allows for proactive rather than reactive responses. “With this system, we can monitor incidents in real time, reduce response time, and save lives. It’s a major step forward in our mission to provide watertight security for the people of Ogun,” he said.
