Police Constable Recruitment: Physical Screening to Begin March 9
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced that the physical and credential screening phase for applicants in the ongoing constable recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force will commence on March 9, 2026.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the PSC spokesperson, Torty Kalu, confirmed that the exercise is scheduled to run until April 18, 2026. Screening will take place at designated centers across all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
All candidates who successfully completed their online registration have been directed to log in to the official recruitment portal. There, they are required to check their screening status and print the necessary documents for the exercise.
According to Mr. Kalu, the required printouts include the guarantors’ form, application submission slip, invitation slip, credential screening form, and physical screening form.
To be admitted for screening, applicants must present their invitation slip, which displays their assigned table number. They are also required to bring a completed credential screening form, a printout of their National Identification Number (NIN) or the card issued by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), their O-Level certificate, a birth certificate or declaration of age, and a certificate of origin.
Candidates applying for specialized roles are instructed to present relevant trade test certificates. All applicants must also submit a duly completed guarantor’s form, complete with attached photocopies and passport photographs of their referees.
The commission emphasized the importance of proper documentation, stating that all original credentials and their duplicate copies must be neatly arranged in two separate white flat files, each with a recent passport photograph attached.
Furthermore, the PSC specified the dress code for the screening day. Candidates are to appear at their respective venues dressed in white canvas shoes, white T-shirts, white shorts, and white stockings, as indicated on their invitation slip.
The PSC Chairman, retired DIG Hashimu Argungu, reiterated that the recruitment process is completely free of charge and does not require any financial commitment from applicants. He warned applicants to be vigilant against online scammers and impostors who might attempt to exploit the process for fraud.
“Anyone found wanting will be arrested and prosecuted,” the statement warned.
The application portal originally closed on January 25, 2026, after opening on December 15, 2025. However, the deadline was later extended to February 8, 2026, following a low turnout of applicants in Lagos and several other states.
In contrast, states such as Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded a high volume of applications during the registration period.
