Police Dismiss Claims of Kidney Sales in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has refuted reports circulating on social media alleging that young residents of Nyanya, Abuja, are selling their kidneys for money.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the police had not received any official complaint or report regarding the alleged organ trafficking activities.

According to her, the social media reports claimed that several youths in Nyanya had sold their kidneys and that an agent operating in nearby Mararaba, Nasarawa State, was involved in purchasing the organs.

Adeh described the claims as unverified and misleading, stressing that the command had neither investigated nor confirmed any such incident.

She urged residents to disregard the reports and avoid spreading information that could create unnecessary panic or fear among members of the public.

The police spokesperson also encouraged anyone with credible information about suspected human organ trafficking or other security-related concerns to report the matter to the nearest police station for prompt investigation.

The command reiterated its commitment to public safety and called on residents to rely on verified information from official sources.
