Security Analyst Detained Following Allegations Against Katsina Government
The Katsina State Police Command has arrested and charged security analyst and commentator Usman Kurfi to court following a formal complaint filed by the state government.
The arrest follows comments made by Kurfi during a recent television interview, where he alleged that the Katsina State Government had sponsored bandits to participate in a religious pilgrimage. The state government had previously refuted these claims, labeling them as unfounded.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the police acted after receiving a petition from the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasir Mu’azu. Sadiq confirmed that the command conducted a preliminary investigation into the accusations before moving forward with legal action.
While the police have not disclosed the specific charges filed against the analyst, they confirmed that the matter is now before the court. Efforts to reach Kurfi’s legal representatives and state government officials for further comment have so far been unsuccessful.
