Shettima’s Ekiti visit signals Tinubu’s backing for Oyebanji, says APC

The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has described Vice President Kashim Shettima’s upcoming visit to the state as a strong indication of President Bola Tinubu’s trust in Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s leadership.

The party noted that the visit, the Vice President’s second to Ekiti, highlights a growing synergy between federal policies and state-level governance.

Scheduled for Tuesday, the working visit will see Shettima inaugurate the 1.2-kilometre Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Flyover at Okeyinmi  a key infrastructure project of the Oyebanji administration. He will also perform the groundbreaking for the Ekiti Knowledge Zone and commission several other projects.

In a statement issued on Monday, the APC’s State Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, said the projects represent a fusion of the federal “Renewed Hope” agenda and the state’s “Shared Prosperity” blueprint. He added that the Vice President’s presence deepens federal-state collaboration on infrastructure and economic development.

Dipe further noted that beyond physical infrastructure, the visit carries a clear political message: the partnership between Tinubu and Oyebanji is visible and yielding results. With the governorship election set for June 20, 2026, and the presidential poll scheduled for January 2027, he argued that continuity remains a winning option for Ekiti voters.

The APC spokesperson expressed confidence that the visit and the administration’s track record would translate into strong electoral support for Oyebanji and his deputy, Mrs Monisade Afuye, as well as for President Tinubu in the 2027 election.

He recalled that during Shettima’s first visit in May 2024, the Vice President inaugurated the Omisanjana–Deeper Life–Ajebandele Road and an MSME clinic, among other projects.
