Six Children Orphaned as Unknown Assailants Murder Couple in Kebbi

The Nigeria Police Force has launched a manhunt for unknown gunmen who killed a couple in Asarara village, Kebbi State.

The attack occurred at about 5:30 a.m. on Saturday at the victims’ home. The deceased have been identified as Muhammad Haruna and his wife, Habiba Abubakar.

The command’s spokesperson, Bashir Usman, confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are underway to track down those responsible. He added that the bodies have been deposited at a hospital in Birnin Kebbi for further examination.

Security agencies remain on top of the situation, and residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with investigators. The police also appealed to the public to provide any useful information that could assist in tracking down the assailants.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the late Muhammad Haruna as a peaceful man who lived quietly with everyone. The source expressed shock over the killing, noting that nobody could immediately point to any dispute involving him.

Sympathisers gathered at the family compound as news of the incident spread across the village. The couple is survived by six children  four boys and two girls.
