Sokoto Disburses N100m Relief Package to Banditry, Boat Accident Victims

Sokoto State Government has provided over N100 million and hundreds of bags of food supplies to families affected by recent bandit attacks and a deadly boat accident across parts of the state.

The support package was delivered through a government delegation that visited affected communities to sympathise with victims and their families. Financial assistance and food items were distributed to bereaved families and injured survivors in the affected areas.

Families who lost relatives in the attacks received cash support and food supplies, while injured victims were also given monetary assistance alongside essential food items. Similar relief was extended to families impacted by the boat tragedy, which claimed dozens of lives.

Speaking during the visits, government representatives reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to improving security and supporting efforts aimed at tackling insecurity across the state. Residents were encouraged to cooperate with security agencies and remain vigilant.

The delegation also stressed the need for stricter adherence to safety measures on waterways, directing local authorities to enforce regulations against boat overloading to prevent future accidents.

Community leaders and government officials commended the intervention, describing it as timely support for families facing difficult circumstances.
