Stephen Austin And Bamikole Segun Arraigned For Stealing Goats In Kaduna

Two suspected goats thieves Stephen Austin, 26 and Bamikole Segun, 28, appeared before Chief Magistrates’ Court, Kaduna for allegedly stealing their neighbour’s goats.

Both suspects of Narayi area of Kaduna, were charged owith criminal conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, Austin and Segun committed the offence on Oct 28, at about 10:30 p.m., on Catholic Road Narayi Kaduna.

Leo said both men went into the compound of one Felicia Adams when she went to the market and stole her three goats, adding that neighbours arrested the defendants and handed over to the police by some neighbours who saw them in the act.

He said by their acts, they have contravened the Penal Code Kaduna State, 2017 and asked the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and assemble witnesses.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Counsel to the defendants, Mrs Ayomide Ibrahim, urged the court to grant the defendants bail, promising that they would not jump bail.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety each in like sum.

Emmanuel adjourned the case until Nov. 29 for hearing.
