Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas officially joins APC
Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), registering as a member of the ruling party on Sunday. Kefas was registered by the APC Hospital Ward executive at the Government House in Jalingo, the state capital, and received his membership card.
Speaking after the registration, the governor explained that he had initially suspended his official defection ceremony, originally scheduled for November 19, in solidarity with abducted schoolgirls in Kebbi State. However, he decided to complete the registration process to enable him to fully participate in party activities in the state.
Kefas stated that the decision to join the APC was taken in the overall interest of the party and governance in Taraba State, and would help deepen cooperation and strengthen the party’s structure in the state. He thanked the ward party executives and state working committee representatives for their efforts.
The governor announced that a new date for the official defection ceremony would be communicated to the public later. Kefas’ registration comes amid ongoing political realignments in Taraba State, with several political actors repositioning ahead of future elections.
Recently, members of the state executive council, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Izito Benzena, and 14 members of the Taraba State House of Assembly defected to the APC, highlighting the shifting political landscape in the state.
