Two Foreign Nationals Arrested in Iran for Importing Banned Starlink Devices

Iranian authorities have detained two foreign nationals in the northwestern city of Jolfa on charges related to the illegal importation of Starlink satellite internet equipment, a local prosecutor confirmed on Sunday.

According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, the suspects were arrested by security forces in East Azerbaijan province for their involvement in bringing satellite internet devices into the country. The public prosecutor for Jolfa stated that the two individuals are believed to be part of a larger network accused of intelligence collaboration with groups linked to the United States and Israel.

In addition to the foreign nationals, two Iranian citizens have also been arrested in connection with the case. One of them is accused of attempting to transmit information to hostile satellite networks, while the other is alleged to have engaged in intelligence-related activities.

Iran has been largely disconnected from the global internet since the outbreak of hostilities with Israel and the United States on February 28. Satellite internet services, including Starlink, remain officially banned across the country.
