VIDEO: Tinubu Vows to Defeat Banditry, Terrorism, Unveils Major Projects in Ogun
President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration will overcome banditry and terrorism, pledging increased investment in the country’s citizens.
Speaking on Saturday at the commissioning of the Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State, the President declared that security forces would prevail against the ongoing threats. He noted that the deployment of security vehicles at the event underscored the government’s determination to safeguard lives and property.
Tinubu also commended the nation’s youth, describing them as committed, brilliant, and hardworking. He expressed confidence that Nigeria is firmly on the path to greatness once again.
The commissioning ceremony, presided over by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, had initially been scheduled for April 2 but was postponed following the President’s trip to Jos, Plateau State, where he condoled with victims of a Palm Sunday attack. Gunmen had struck the Angwan Rukuba district of Jos North Local Government Area on March 29, killing at least 28 people and wounding dozens.
At the Iperu event, Tinubu hailed the new airport as a landmark achievement, noting that it operates on an independent electricity supply, powered by investments in gas and energy. He expressed satisfaction with the range of projects unveiled, including mobility, security, and agricultural initiatives.
The President also highlighted the launch of 1,000 electric bikes as a forward-looking response to modern transportation needs, embracing technology over fossil fuels to improve daily living.
