“You Contested Presidential Ticket For Recognition”, Wike Taunts Momodu

Governor of Rivers, Nyesom Wike has taunted Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation magazine, over the latter’s comment on the ongoing crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Reacting to the party’s crisis, Momodu, in an interview published on Vanguard, asked Wike and his allies “not to cross the lines” in their insistence not to work for Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate.

Responding, the Rivers governor said he will not allow anybody to use him to gain “relevance”, adding that he has not left the PDP since 1999 unlike some of his critics.

“I have also read where some people say we should not cross the lines. Ordinarily, I should not have responded to this,” Wike said.

“I read they said it is one Dele Momodu. These are the things I’m talking about. Ask him. When did he join the party?

“He came into PDP two weeks before the presidential primary. He is from Edo state. He did not even get one vote, not even from his own state.

“When you just want them to recognise you — from presidential aspirant to becoming spokesperson — somebody who wants to rule Nigeria has become a spokesperson of a presidential aspirant.

“All of you know how many times Dele Momodu had been in Port Harcourt, from one project commissioning to another.

“I’m not going to be a party to anybody using me to be relevant. If you don’t have a job, say you don’t have any job, I have a job and I will continue to do my job”, he added.

G5: Rivers PDP Alleges Plot To Blackmail Wike

The  commissioner for information and communications in Rivers, Chris Finebone has revealed that  the state has uncovered a plot to blackmail Nyesom Wike, governor of the state.

A statement issued by Kelvin Ebiri, special assistant to Wike on media, revealed that  Finebone spoke at a media briefing on Thursday in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers.

Fineboy explained that the “faceless group” is orchestrating a campaign of calumny against Wike because they are vexed over his role in leading the G5 governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for “fairness, equity and justice” in the party.

“This is the evidence of the plot to blackmail governor Wike. This is the document and it is titled: ‘Proposal with hashtag, to end Wike rascality programme’,” he said.

The commissioner said the plan to blackmail Wike is “totally unexpected” by the Rivers government.

“We encouraged them to remove their mask and show themselves as the governor and the government is equal to the task of responding to them adequately,” he said.

“They can’t even sign it (the document) to push for this. It is important we warn them. It is important we also warn Nigerians about this scheme. We expect more of them to come. But I can assure you that the governor and the G-5 would rise to the occasion as they continue to start this type of campaign of calumny.”

Court Voids PDP Guber Primary In Ebonyi, Orders Fresh Poll

A few months to the general elections, a federal High Court sitting in Abuja has nullified the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ebonyi State.

The PDP, in its first primary election conducted in May 28th and 29th 2022, elected Mr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii as its gubernatorial candidate in Ebonyi State.

The party also held another primary election on the 4th and 5th of June 2022, which produced Obinna Ogba as its factional governorship candidate.

It was gathered that the 1st primary election of the PDP which produced Odii as a guber candidate was conducted under the headship of Silas Onu while the 2nd Primary election of the party that produced Ogba, was conducted under the headship of Tochukwu Okorie.

Both Odii and Ogba reportedly fought gallantly in court for the PDP guber ticket in Ebonyi, wherein the Supreme Court later ruled in favour of Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii.

But now, Justice Binta Nyako has allegedly nullified all the primary elections of the PDP conducted under Silas Onu.

Justice, Nyako, however, gave fourteen days (14 days) for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to conduct a fresh primary election.

When contacted, the state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Tochukwu Okorie confirmed the nullification of the Party’s primaries.

He said the party will soon make its position known as regards the federal High court ruling.
