3,391 New Soldiers Inducted in Nigerian Army
The Nigerian Army has formally inducted 3,391 new soldiers in a historic Passing Out Parade at Depot Nigerian Army, Osogbo, Osun State. The event marked the first-ever passing out ceremony at the depot since its establishment.
Addressing the recruits, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, charged them to uphold “the highest standards of discipline, professionalism, courage, and patriotism” as they commence their military careers. “You are the pioneer set, and you must wear this badge with pride,” he said.
Shaibu highlighted the nation’s evolving security challenges and urged the soldiers to draw strength from their training, acting “with hope for success rather than fear of failure” when confronting adversity. He reassured them of the Army’s support under his Soldier First policy.
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke commended the Nigerian Army for its dedication to national security and ongoing operations against banditry and kidnapping. He urged the recruits to serve as “steadfast custodians of peace and stability”.
The parade concluded with the formal induction of the soldiers, marking the start of their service to the nation. The COAS also announced that the newly approved Depot Nigerian Army in Abakaliki would soon begin training operations.
